Summer Harris was raised on her family’s farm just north of Grinnell, KS, where they grew wheat, corn, milo and raised cattle. Summer graduated from Oakley High School in 2000. She continued her education at Colby Community College and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Communications. She then transferred to Washburn University in Topeka, KS and earned a Bachelors Degree in Public Relations in 2004. After graduation from Washburn, she moved to Kansas City to work for Konica Minolta as a sales associate. Summer then returned to Topeka to become the Assistant Athletic Director at her Alma Mater of Washburn University from 2005-2012. In the Spring of 2012, Summer found her way back to Western, KS where she became the Director of Tickets for the Fort Hays State Athletic Department in Hays, KS

 

Summer began her career in Agriculture with Sunrise AgriBusiness Solutions in the fall of 2021. Summer started in the Sunrise grain management division, working with commercial accounts, where she learned how to buy/sell grain and keep a hedge position. In 2023 she transitioned over to Sunrise Agribusiness Solutions as a Merchandiser Assistant. Summer works directly with Sunrise merchandisers and assists clients. She has become our champion for all onboarding and compliance processes.

 

Summer has been married for 20 years to Cooper Harris, who is the Defensive Coordinator for the Fort Hays State football team. They have two daughters, Piper 15 and Collins 13. Both girls are very active in sports and Summer spends a lot of time taking them to events and supporting their goals. In her spare time, she enjoys working out at the gym and taking care of her yard.
