Kerri grew up in a military family. Her father served in the US Army Medical Corp for 27 years and retired as a Colonel. This gave her the opportunity to live in many different places while growing up. Kerri’s father’s last assignment was in El Paso, Texas at Fort Bliss/William Beaumont Army Medical Hospital. After this assignment was complete her parents decided to retire and call El Paso home.

Kerri received her BS in Agricultural Economics in 1994 from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She worked for a short time after graduation at an engineering firm before she found her way into the grain business.

Kerri began her career with DeBruce Grain Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri in 1996. During her time with DeBruce, she traded cross county grain in western Kansas, eastern Colorado, Nebraska and the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles. About 4 years into her career she moved to a different trading region and traded cross-country grain in the East Texas region. This region included the east, central, upper coast and Rio Grande Valley areas in Texas. Kerri was then offered the opportunity to work at the Wichita, Kansas grain terminal facility. She spent 4 years in Wichita trading wheat and feed grains into the domestic and export markets via truck and shuttle trains.

When Gavilon Grain bought DeBruce in 2010, Kerri continued her career with Gavilon. She accepted the role of Merchandising Manager and was responsible for the management of the east Texas and western Kansas cross-country trading platforms. In 2017 Kerri was given the opportunity to manage several additional cross-country trading platforms including the Mid-Atlantic and the western and eastern Canadian regions. At this time, she also received her master’s degree in Business Education from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. With this knowledge she developed the Merchandiser Trainee Program for Gavilon. The Merchandiser Trainees spent approximately 9 months with Kerri and her team learning the industry and preparing them for successful careers.

In October 2020, Kerri accepted the position of Commodity Risk Manager with Sunrise Agribusiness Solutions. Kerri is extremely passionate about the grain and agriculture industry and is always looking to find ways to support the industry she has found so rewarding. She is looking forward to working with the team at Sunrise Agribusiness Solutions and using her experience and knowledge to help enable producers to manage risk and increase profits.
