Travis Brunner is the founder and CEO of Sunrise ABS. Travis graduated with an Agribusiness degree from Fort Hays State University in 1999. He got his start in the grain business with Cargill where he helped implement risk management tools on originated grain for Wakeeney’s train loader.
In early 2001, Travis moved to Kearney, Nebraska where he continued working with producers by helping them manage their risk along with promoting variable rate fertilizer programs through grid sampling and fertility recommendations. In 2003, Travis was awarded three of Cargill AgHorizons highest sales awards while by being honored at the National Sales Convention. Later that year, Travis was promoted to merchandising
manager for the Platte River Farm Service Group. Travis learned quickly how to merchandise and trade both shuttle trains along with trucks as the “ethanol boom” was just taking off. His duties included: all truck and rail logistics, procurement manager for a 110 million gallon ethanol plant, cross country trading, as well as assuming merchandising responsibilities for eight gran facilities. He gained tremendous knowledge of the entire supply chain while he was overseeing 100-110 million bushels annually.
In 2010, Travis was able to move closer to home when he was promoted to Salina, KS. His years were spent in Salina trading wheat, corn, grain sorghum and soybeans. His territory was in Kansas, Texas and Colorado. Travis enjoyed his experience at Cargill but had an opportunity to keep his family close to home by taking a job with Midland Marketing in 2015.
Travis’ job with Midland was an interesting turn for his career as this is where he was asked to start a grain consulting business in tangent with assisting Midlands’ merchandising team. Travis quickly gained deeper respect for the challenges that farmers face in their grain marketing programs and knew that this is where he wanted to fulfill his career …. by working together with farmers to market their product(s). In August 2019, Travis started Sunrise AgriBusiness Solutions LLC with a strategic partnership with Midland Marketing as well as other private investors. Travis is excited about agriculture and enjoys helping producers and ranchers with their risk management needs.
